Agriculture Foundation Contributes $50,000 to Hurricane Relief Fund Supporting Georgia Farmers

The AGCO Agriculture Foundation (the “Foundation”), a private foundation focused on reducing hunger through sustainable agriculture, has donated $50,000 to the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture’s “Weathered But Strong: Hurricane Relief Fund.” This initiative, organized by over 40 of Georgia’s leading agricultural organizations, including the Georgia Agribusiness Council and the Georgia Department of Agriculture, is committed to assisting farmers in recovering from the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene recently tore through Georgia, causing widespread destruction across agricultural areas, leveling fields, damaging timber, and destroying farm infrastructure. For many farmers, the financial and emotional toll has been severe, with significant gaps left by insurance and other aid sources. The “Weathered But Strong” fund aims to address these gaps by providing direct support to affected farmers.

“Farmers are the backbone of our communities, and their resilience in the face of hardship is inspiring,” said Roger Batkin, Board Chair of the AGCO Agriculture Foundation. “Our Foundation is honored to lend support to this relief fund in AGCO’s home state of Georgia. We are committed to helping farmers rebuild their operations and restore their livelihoods after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.”

The fund’s goal is to raise $1 million, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to farmers in need. This support will help them recover from the storm’s impact and continue their essential work in agriculture.
