High agricultural development in China due to digital technology

It looks like a budding lotus flower, rich in nutrients and high economic value, and has the reputation of being “the king of vegetables” in Europe. Recently, the artichokes in the Agricultural Innovative Park of Kandun University in Cixi ushered in the harvest season.

Mr. Dor Raz is an Israeli and graduated from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. In 2019, he founded a company in Cixi and joined hands with Kandun University student growers to cultivate artichoke. “This year, we introduced the Akologic agricultural management system of precision agriculture technology from Israel and applied it to the management of artichoke planting.” Dor said that with this system, the entire agricultural activity data will be saved to the “cloud”, realizing the traceability management of agricultural products in the whole process.

The smart agriculture in Kandun is the epitome of the high-quality agricultural development in Cixi city. In recent years, the farm has opened up over 6000m2 of experimental fields in the greenhouse to apply the Internet of Things technology to agricultural production. “With digital equipment, sowing, nursery, and maintenance are intelligent, only two workers are needed to do daily management.” Mr. Hu Jingjin, the grower, said that the administrator can complete remote control operations while sitting at home and tapping his phone.

In Cixi, there are nearly 1,000 new-type professional growers like Mr. Hu. They vigorously introduce new varieties, new technologies, and new equipment to provide rich application scenarios for digital agriculture. Three years ago, Mr. Xu Jiakun from the city devoted himself to agriculture and built a family farm in Kandun to grow the high-class mandarin “Red Beauty”. Now, this farm has installed wireless sensors that integrate soil moisture, temperature, EC (fertility), and light intensity. “We can control the temperature in the greenhouse at about 25°C and the humidity at around 70%.” Mr. Xu said that when he is not on the farm, he will check the greenhouse conditions through the mobile phone, and notify the employees to eliminate the hidden problems in time if data is found to be alarmed.
