Professor Hezekiah Adedunmola Oluwasanmi Foundation has been set up in memory of the world renowned Agro- Economist, Professor H. A. Oluwasanmi who was best known for his pioneering work as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). A man widely acknowledged as the architect of Obafemi Awolowo University. Very little is known, however, of his achievements, and giants strides, as an Agricultural Economist of international repute and, even more so of his exploits as an Agricultural Entrepreneur. Long before his stint as a University builder and administrator, Professor Oluwasanmi had distinguished himself as a scholar and teacher of Agricultural Economics at the University College Ibadan (now University of Ibadan).Shortly after his disengagement from the University of Ife, he launched himself into the third phase of his life’s work by the establishment of Araromi Farms an agricultural enterprise in his home town, Ipetu-Ijesa. It is here that he put his lifelong acquisition of knowledge into practice. Unfortunately, he was unable to prosecute this project to its logical conclusion before he passed on. The three broad phases of Professor Oluwasanmi’s working life may therefore be summarized thus:
- University Teaching and Research.
- University building and Administration
- Agricultural Entrepreneurship.
